MTV to movie series based on Scream
MTV is about to direct a television series based on the horror movie The Scream. The news is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Tony DiSanto ("The Werewolf") and Liz Gaitley ("Berger's Dignity") are in the early stages of negotiations to join the project as executive producers. Also at the time of this writing, MTV is looking for a screenwriter. It remains unknown whether the creators of the original movie Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson will take part in the project. Williamson will star in The Vampire Diaries and the new Kevin Bacon drama Chase for the upcoming season. Following the 1996 movie premiere, starring Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, the creators have directed three more sequel. In total, the franchise brought in $ 330 million.
