The creator of the series "Followers" and "Stalker" Kevin Williamson begins developing a new TV project. This is a drama based on Carl Alexander's novel Journey in a Time Machine. ABC bought the rights to the project from Warner Bros. TV having an agreement with Williamson. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

In the book and in the feature movie of the same name directed by Nicholas Meyer, starring Malcolm McDowell, David Warner and Mary Stringbergen, author of The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds novels H.G. Wells invents the time machine. He demonstrates his invention to friends, unaware that one of them, the surgeon Leslie John Stevenson, is in fact the infamous Jack the Ripper. When Scotland Yard detectives corner Stevenson, he uses a time machine to travel to the future and ends up in San Francisco in 1979. He is pursued by Wells, who wants to bring the killer back to justice.

Using the book and movie as a starting point, Time Machine Journey follows the epic adventures of the young H.G. Wells and his time machine.

Williamson will write and executive produce. In collaboration with Warner Bros. TV Williamson is the creator of The CW's The Vampire Diaries, Dawson's Creek, and the horror movies Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
