Sony Pictures to Release Spider-Man Animated Movie
Sony Pictures has announced the production of a full-length animated movie dedicated to Spider-Man. According to Comingsoon, the head of the company, Tom Rothman, made a statement at CinemaCon. The project will be led by moviemakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, creators of The Lego Movie and the Macho and the Nerd comedy. The unnamed project will premiere on July 20, 2018. As a reminder, as part of the agreement between Marvel and Sony Pictures, presented on February 10, 2015, Spider-Man, whose fate will now be shared by the partners, will make his debut in the Marvel movie "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016, and will then solo in Sony Pictures, which is set to premiere on 28 July 2017. Sony Pictures will continue to work on other superhero movies such as The Sinister Six. The premiere of the latter, announced earlier for November 2016, was postponed to a later date. Note that previously Spider-Man did not become the hero of a full-length cartoon, he only appeared in several animated series, the first of which was released by ABC in the late 60s of the last century.
