Fox has commissioned the production of a pilot for an action-adventure series set in the X-Men franchise. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The project tells the story of two ordinary parents who discovered mutant abilities in their children. Forced to hide from a hostile government, the family joins an underground organization of mutants and fights for survival.

The unnamed project will be co-produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television. Matt Nix (Black Mark) will write and executive produce with veterans of the X-Men franchise Lauren Shuler Donner, Brian Singer and Simon Kinberg, as well as Jeff Loeb and Jim Chory.

Recall that about a year ago Fox announced the development of an X-Men-themed drama "Hellfire". The project was canceled after its curators Evan Katz and Manny Koto focused on another series on the channel - 24 Hours: The Legacy.

For Fox, the potential Marvel project will expand the "superhero segment" in the series' lineup. At the moment, the channel broadcasts two series based on DC Comics – "Gotham" and "Lucifer". For Marvel, if the situation develops successfully, the series will become the second telecomic on public TV after SHIELD.
