Marvel TV and Fox are developing a Hellfire Club series

Marvel TV and Fox have begun developing a project with a tentative title based on the Marvel comic series "The Hellfire Club". This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Set in the 1960s, a young special agent finds out that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary ability has teamed up with a secret society of millionaires known as the Club Hellfire "to take over the world.

Century Fox TV and Marvel Television will co-produce. Patrick McKay and John D. Payne (Star Trek 3) will write a script based on a story created by Ivan Katz and Manny Coto (24 Hours) and Payne. Shared executive producing roles with Lauren Schuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Brian Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse), Simon Kinberg (Deadpool) and Jeff Loeb (Daredevil). Katz and Koto are assigned as showrunners.

In print comics, The Hellfire Club has often clashed with the X-Men. The organization first appeared in the January 1980 issue of Uncanny X-Men. The club members themselves were featured in the 2011 movie X-Men: First Class, led by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and Emma Frost (Gennury Jones).
