Universal has dropped production of the Croods sequel
Universal has closed the Croods 2 animation project, run by its DreamWorks Animation studio. According to Variety, the head of Universal Pictures Donna Langley made such an unexpected announcement for the studio staff. Three dozen DreamWorks Animation employees who have been creating the cartoon sequel for almost three years will have to look for a new job. Some of them, as the Universal management promises, will be distributed to other divisions of the company and will be engaged in other projects, some will go for retraining. Recall that the cartoon "The Croods", which tells about the adventures of a prehistoric family clan, was released in 2013. The main characters were voiced by popular Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Kat Dennings, Leslie Mann, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and others. The cartoon was a box office success, grossing about $ 600 million on a $ 135 million production budget.
