John Rhys-Davis as King of the Elves
The Lord of the Rings trilogy star John Rhys-Davis has joined the cast of the television adaptation of Terry Brooks' fantasy novel Shannar, which MTV ordered in July 2014 for production. In the center of the ten-episode drama will be the descendants of the elven family of Shannar, who possess ancient magic, and whose adventures are constantly changing the future of the world. Rhys-Davis will play the king of the elves, Evenin, the grandfather of Princess Amberley (Poppy Drayton). who ruled the kingdom of Arborlon for several decades along with his sons, Arion and Ander. Miles Millar and his Smallville partner Alfred Gough have been appointed showrunners for the television project and will share executive producing duties with Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman, Brooks, Dan Farah and David Blocker.
