The MTV channel has renewed the fantasy drama "The Chronicles of Shannara", based on the works of Terry Brooks, for a second season. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The finale of the first season of the series, which took place on March 1, 2016, attracted a total of 1.77 million viewers three days after the broadcast and showed good viewing results for a week in recording on DVR, adding another million viewers to the total. The drama is the most watched new series on MTV this year with viewers aged 12 to 34, and has set a new record for DVR views. a 106 percent increase in ratings over a seven-day period.

The series by executive producer Jon Favreau and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (In the Desert of Death) follows the Shannar clan. whose descendants possess ancient magic, and whose adventures are gradually changing the future of the world. Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davis star in the Sonar Entertainment and MTV series.
