MTV Films Shannar's Fantasy Series (Topic)

MTV will team up with Jon Favreau and Smallville writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to adapt Terry Brooks' hit fantasy series Shannar. According to The Hollywood Reporter, if the television network approves the script, the fantasy drama will bypass the pilot episode and will be movieed entirely.

The Shannar series began in 1977 with the publication of her first novel, The Sword of Shannara "and has a total of about 25 books. Events in "Shannar" take place millennia after the destruction of our civilization. In the center of the story are the descendants of the elven family of Shannar, who possess ancient magic, and whose adventures continuously change the future of the world. If the production of the series is given the green light, Producers Brooks, Favreau, Gough, Millar and Dan Farah plan to start movieing the series with the second novel in the series, The Elven Stones of Shannara, published in 1982.

The Shannar novel series is the best-selling non-adapted fantasy series. books in the world. Brooks is considered the second most popular living fantasy writer. The championship is held by the creator of the Harry Potter books – J.K. Rowling.
