Syfy has acquired the rights to movie Spin, a six-hour miniseries by science fiction writer Robert Charles Wilson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Uls ("Fight Club") will be engaged in the TV adaptation.

The main characters in the post-apocalyptic drama are three childhood friends who witnessed the mysterious disappearance of stars. NASA studies have shown that the Earth is surrounded by a black energy barrier, and time beyond it runs billions of times faster. Civilization learns that in five years the Sun will destroy the planet. As they grow older, each of the trinity goes their own way and tries to come up with a way to save the Earth from destruction. But there is very little time left – will their friendship survive, and with it humanity?

Roman, Hugo Prize winner, was published in 2005 and is the first book in a trilogy to include Axis and Vortex.

The miniseries will be produced by Universal Cable Productions, Bits and Pieces Picture Company and Olympus Pictures. Rob Morrow (North Side) and Leslie Urdeng (Beginners) will be producing the upcoming TV project.
