Studio 8 intends to shoot a new version of the famous horror movie "Nosferatu, Symphony of Horror", released in 1922. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

The remake will be written and directed by Robert Eggers, winner of the Sundance Film Festival award for The Witch.

Let us remind you that the silent horror movie "Nosferatu, Symphony of Horror" was directed by German director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. Initially, he planned to movie the work of Irish writer Bram Stoker's "Dracula", but his studio could not agree on the acquisition of rights, so Murnau had to change the names of the main characters and some details of the storyline. In particular, the main character of the picture was not named Jonathan Harker, but Thomas Hutter, and the mysterious Count from Transylvania was not Dracula, but Orlok.

However, all these tricks did not help to avoid lawsuits from the side of Stoker's widow, who obtained a court decision to destroy copies of the painting. But the movie has already spread all over the world, and thanks to this it has survived to this day. At the end of the 20th century, "Nosferatu" was restored in its original form and published on digital media.

In mid-July 2015, unknown vandals abducted the head of Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau from the family tomb. The criminals were never found.
