BBC One and FX, an eight-episode historical drama "Taboo", has begun movieing in London. The cast of the series, based on an original story written by Tom Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy, has also been announced. The project is overseen by Executive Producer Stephen Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm (Murder). Chips Hardy took over as a consultant producer. Hardy plays the role of the central character named James Keziah Delaney, who in 1814, after a ten-year stay in Africa, returns to London to learn about the mysterious legacy left to him by his father. Forced to wage a wage war with those who dishonest him, Delaney finds himself embroiled in a conflict with the East India Company and plays a dangerous game with two warring powers - Britain and America.

In addition to Hardy in the series are busy: Michael Kelly ("House of Cards") in the role of the American doctor Dr. Dumbarton; Jonathan Price (Game of Thrones) as Sir Stuart Strange, head of the East India Company and enemy of Delaney; Oona Chaplin (Black Mirror) as Zilfa Jiri, James' half-sister; and David Hayman ("Macbeth") as Brace, Delaney's loyal servant. The supporting roles are played by Jesse Buckley, Ashley Walters, Jefferson Hall and Edward Hogg.
