The IMAX Corporation has acquired the movie rights to Donovan Hon's true-to-life bestseller, Moby Duck. This is reported by the Comingsoon edition.

The book, released in 2011, tells both a dramatic and a comic story about how a container with thousands of rubber ducklings fell from a ship in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Thanks to ocean currents, toys have made a grand journey and found new owners around the world.

The project will be curated by producer Drew Felman, under whose leadership such popular documentaries as "Lemur Island: Madagascar" and "Free Born 3D" were created. He will shoot the picture according to his own script.

In addition to, in fact, the adventure aspect, the work also found a place for discussions about the exploration of the oceans, climate change, economics, politics and the Chinese children's toy industry.

Terms of work on the project are not specified. The movie will most likely be produced with the next generation of IMAX digital stereoscopic cameras.
