The Mighty Ducklings Return to the Ice
Disney has decided to give new life to one of the most famous sports franchises of the 90s. As it became known to the publication The Hollywood Reporter, a subsidiary of the Hollywood major, ABC Signature Studios, has begun to create a television series based on the movie trilogy The Powerful Ducklings.If product placement can be found in almost every Hollywood blockbuster, then the cases when the films themselves acted as hidden advertising of some brands can be considered objects of the Red Book of the Dream Factory. The first part of The Mighty Ducklings was released in 1992, and a year later the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim club debuted in the National Hockey League, the main shareholder of which was the Walt Disney studio. The protagonist of The Mighty Ducklings was a successful lawyer Gordon Bombay, who was sentenced to community service for drunk driving. In order to fulfill the deadline set by the court, a lawyer has to agree to become a coach of a children's hockey team ...  The picture of 1992 received mostly negative reviews in the press, but was liked by ordinary viewers. In North America alone, the $ 10 million family comedy grossed over $ 50 million, becoming the highest grossing hockey film in cinematic history. Income from sales and rental of videotapes with the recording of "Powerful Ducklings" amounted to about $ 54 million. Unsurprisingly, Disney executives decided to shoot an entire trilogy about the adventures of Bombay and his crew. In 1996, in the wake of the popularity of the film series, an animated series was also created, which managed to stay on the air of ABC for only one season.  Steven Brill, the screenwriter of the original film, will take an active part in the work on the new series based on "The Powerful Ducklings". Insiders do not exclude that the show may find shelter on the so far unnamed online service of the Disney studio, with the help of which one of the leaders of the modern film industry intends to compete with such streaming giants as Amazon, Hulu and Netflix.
