Riot brewing at Sony Pictures Entertainment

There is growing dissatisfaction with the management practices of its head, Tom Rothman, within Sony Pictures Entertainment, and some senior company executives are seriously considering leaving. This is reported by Variety with reference to anonymous informants.

Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Linton and the company's human resources department have allegedly recorded more than a dozen statements from managers protesting Rothman's "micro-management" system that has created an "intolerable" environment for the company. His management style is said to have scared off many agents, directors and actors who now prefer to offer their talents and projects to other Hollywood studios.

Unnamed informants also report that Rothman received a list of claims against him at a meeting with the leadership of the human resources department, held in late October 2016. "There is no confidence in his leadership," said an executive at Sony Pictures Entertainment, who asked to remain anonymous.

Rothman himself refuses to comment on this. Michael Linton issued a statement on October 30, 2016, in which he fully supported his boss's policies. Rothman's supporters believe he is undertaking a painful but badly needed makeover for a struggling studio.

Recall that under the leadership of Rothman, Sony Pictures released the disastrous movie "Ghostbusters", which earned only $ 229 million at the box office with a budget of $ 144 million. At the end of October, the American release of the movie "Inferno" began with a failure, which could not break into the leaders on the first weekend.
