The North Korean hackers who hacked into the servers of the Sony Pictures movie company at the end of 2014 did not have to work long to gain administrative access. According to the US-published book "Dark Territory: The Secret History of Cyber War", quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, Sony's internal network was protected with passwords "12345," "ABCDE" and "password".

These are the results of an investigation carried out by cybersecurity specialists hired by the company. And this despite the fact that previously various divisions of the company, for example, Sony Online Entertainment and the PlayStation network, have already been attacked by hackers, which caused damage estimated at $ 170 million.

As a reminder, Sony Pictures' servers were hacked on November 24, 2014. A group called the Peace Defenders claimed responsibility. The hackers demanded to prevent the release of the comedy "Interview", which ridiculed the DPRK leadership.

As a result of the attack, more than 100 terabytes of data were destroyed, more than three thousand personal computers were damaged, and e-mails from Sony Pictures' management were at the disposal of hackers. After its publication, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Amy Pascal was fired, and most of the US theater networks refused to air "Interview".
