Hackers blocked XBox Live and PlayStation Networks

On Christmas Eve, which is celebrated in most Christian countries on December 25th, users around the world experienced difficulties accessing XBox Live and PlayStation Network.

The reason was a DDoS attack organized by a group of hackers who call themselves Lizard Squad. On her Twitter page, a statement was posted in which the attackers promised to end blocking gaming networks after their comment received 10,000 retweets. The timing of the cyberattack was no coincidence, as many people receive new game consoles or games as a gift at Christmas.

As of this writing, limited access announcements have been posted on the official XBox Live and PlayStation Network sites and promises to resolve the issue "soon".

Recall that at the end of November 2014, the servers of the Sony Pictures studio were subjected to a large-scale cyber attack. A group called Defenders of the World gained access to the studio's not yet released movies, confidential company documents and personal data of employees. American intelligence services have blamed the DPRK authorities.

Due to threats to "repeat the events of September 11, 2001" wide distribution of the comedy "Interview" was canceled.
