Spyglass Film Studio is launching a new version of the cult horror movie Hellraiser. The Hollywood Reporter claims that David Bruckner, the creator of such genre movies as "EVIL", "Ritual" and "Friday the 13th", has been appointed director.

Details of the project have not yet been disclosed, but in the studio itself he is described as "loyal to classical history, but evolved." For the first time, the studio's readiness to movie a remake of HellRaiser was announced back in the spring of 2019, but now the adaptation of Clive Barker's novel has moved off the ground.

The original movie was released in 1987. Its hero, using an ancient puzzle, opened the door to another dimension and summoned the sinister Senobites, which bring sadomasochistic pleasures to those who invoke them. The most famous of these was the Pinhead. Years later, Frank's brother Larry moves into his abandoned house with his new wife, Julia. Accidentally, he contributes to the return of Frank from the "other world", but in order to regain the body, the latter needs sacrifices. In this he is helped by Julia, who in the past had an affair with Frank.

Over the three decades of its existence, the franchise has been replenished with ten full-length movies and many graphic novels.
