Universal Film Studio is launching the full-length movie "Kung Fu", which will be based on the popular television series of the same name in the 70s of the last century. According to The Holyywood Reporter, the director of the action movies "John Wick" and "Deadpool 2" David Leitch has agreed.

David Carradine played the main role in the original show. The plot revolved around the Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Kane, who was looking for his missing brother in the American Wild West in the late 19th century. Episodes of the series contained flashbacks of the hero's training when he was still a teenager. "Kung Fu" was presented to viewers by ABC TV channel.

Note that this is not the first attempt to revive the project. So, In 2014, renowned Hollywood director Baz Luhrmann was in talks with Legendary Pictures to make the movie. But these plans were not destined to be realized. In 2017, it was reported that Fox wanted to movie its own version of the series, which would focus on a woman named Lucy Chang, who, as a Buddhist nun and a kung fu master, travels the United States in search of the man who kidnapped her son.

The date of the premiere of the new movie is not named.
