Not so long ago, the autumn presentation of Apple products took place. Among others, the iPhone Xr was presented, named the company's cheapest smartphone.

Among its "colleagues", for example, Xs and Xs Max, which have a bunch of all kinds of functionality, the new product looks faded. There is no 3D Touch, the body is simpler, the IPS-panel has a lower resolution, worse protection from moisture and dust.

However, this unit is much cheaper. This is not easy to say about a device whose price tag starts at 65,000 rubles. True, when compared with the iPhone Xs, the savings are tangible. Nevertheless, experts note that although the phones are different, they have a lot in common.

Appearance and design

The tenth model of the company was taken as a basis for the creation of the iPhone Xr. The device has a screen over the entire frontal area, the same monobrow. The difference lies in the presence of large frames. They are nearly twice the size of other recent Apple models.

The device is not very large in size, but these frames and aluminum edging make it look larger. Those who don't like it will have to come to terms with time. Especially if they are loyal fans of Yabloko products.

There is another ergonomic problem. This is a Lightning connector, offset slightly below the center axis. Many users will not like this, but there is no choice.

The body of the device is made of glass. It is quite durable and you can not be afraid of your smartphone if it accidentally falls on the asphalt. But it's better not to risk it. A metal product would be better, but instead there is only practical and durable aluminum on the sides.

Some will be saddened by the weight of the novelty, only 194 grams. This is less than the Xs Max, but more than its little brother.

There will be six color tones of the device on sale: black, white, yellow, blue, coral and red. A transparent silicone case specifically for this model is foreseen.

It has a 6.1-inch IPS screen. Its resolution is 1792 by 828. It seems that a little, but the developers have changed the level of pixel density. The screen is calibrated in such a way that it is difficult to see individual pixels. The output image is better than it actually is. Image quality rivals the OLED screen on the Xs.

However, not everything is so simple here. The new Apple iPhone Xr has poorer contrast, below maximum brightness. It also produces dark gray instead of black.

Experts believe that these factors made the device cheap. The lack of True Tone support and an improved version of Face ID also affected the price.

What's with the cameras

The iPhone Xr has a single camera on the back. It is wide-angle, has 12 megapixels in reserve. Its aperture is f / 1.8, Smart HDR technology is available. Portrait shots are available with background blur and depth-of-field adjustments.

The presence of only one camera imposes a number of restrictions. First of all, this is the lack of normal photo quality. More precisely, it is not always good because of the background blurred by the AI forces. The second disadvantage is the impossibility of darkening the background.

There are no more differences between the Xr and Xs cameras. The shooting results are about the same.

The selfie camera on the iPhone Xr hasn't changed much. Its functionality remains the same as that of its older brothers.

The hardware of the new iPhone Xr

Here, the differences from older models are minimal. The Apple A12 processor is based on a 7 nanometer process technology. This adds another plus - the ability to regularly receive updates.

The phone is available with 64, 128 or 256 GB memory. "Operative" is not enough, only 3 GB. However, this is sufficient for everyday use.

The battery has a capacity of 2942 milliampere-hours, quite a solid result. It can be charged in an accelerated way, with a wireless option available.

The bottom line

The multicolored iPhone Xr will appeal to many. It turned out to be like a collection of ideas embodied in the iPhone 5c, SE and Xs. It got rid of some of the frills, made the device more affordable.

Experts predict that this smartphone will become a kind of replacement for the iPhone X, the production of which will soon cease. Let's wait and see.
