5 Things You Need To Know About Doom Eternal

In 2016, id Software revived the Doom franchise. The gameplay was fast and frenetic in every sense, and the humorous tone of the game mixed hardcore heavy metal with a Saturday morning cartoon theme. And it turned out to be the right mix. In short, it was the perfect revival for the series. A Game Informer journalist who played Doom Eternal says this could be the perfect sequel to the series. Here are 5 things you need to know about Doom Eternal.

1.The game loop is still addictive

Doom [2016] creatively refined some of the best shooter concepts from the 90s. The players were given a reason to engage in hand-to-hand combat in order to diversify the firefights. If you were low on health, you could perform a melee execution to restore it, and if you were low on ammo, you could pierce an enemy with a chainsaw to replenish ammo. Is there any logic in this? No, but having barely survived the battle and wiped out a small army of demons, it's hard not to feel the same pleasure.

Eternal adds one clever feature in this cycle: Doom Slayer is now equipped with a shoulder-mounted flamethrower that sets enemies on fire and gives you armor. Clever use of flamethrower and kills is the only way to survive some of the more challenging encounters in Doom Eternal. But once you master all the abilities that Eternal has to offer, you will feel invincible.

2. Movement is your best friend

Doom is a game about speed. While some shooters force you to find cover and take your time, Doom encourages you to dance on the battlefield. If you spend too much time in one place, you will be doomed to sudden death. Eternal gives fans more options to move around than ever. For starters, you can now climb certain areas and climb walls. The redesigned Super Shotgun now has a grappling hook that can be used to attack enemies. However, one of the best new gunfighting tools is the new dodge mechanic. Not only can you dodge twice in a row, you can do it both on the ground and in the air. Effective use of this maneuver makes you a difficult target and can save you from death.

3.You will want to use more weapons than one shotgun

Shotguns are hard not to love - just aim them at the target, shoot and watch as your enemies tremble with fear, unless of course they are blown apart by the blast shot. The Doom series is full of great guns and Doom Eternal is no exception. Many weapons have specific use cases that make you want to try them out.

For example, if you throw a grenade into a cacodemon's mouth, it instantly goes into execution mode and kills him. In addition, the Heavy Cannon's Sniper Mode can be used to instantly demolish Rocket Launchers from the Revenants' backs, virtually neutralizing them in combat. Basic grenades can be turned into ice grenades, which freeze enemies. I also really enjoyed the upgraded Plasma Rifle and its Enhanced Microwave Beam, which allows you to grab enemies and pump them with plasma energy until they explode like my belly after Taco Bell.

4.You can upgrade everything

Many games use RPG mechanics, so you can constantly level up your gear. Doom Eternal takes this system and takes it to the absolute. For example, weapon mods still allow you to do cool upgrades, such as turning the Combat Shotgun into a Gatling Gun. Weapon upgrade points help increase firearm damage. In addition, crystals for improvement are scattered across all levels; they can be used to boost your base stats like health, armor and ammo.

Runes are individual items that can be used to enhance your abilities, giving you the ability to slow time in the air or perform faster executions. I used the rune to activate an ability that automatically slows down time if I'm dying, which saved my skin a couple of times. Finally, special glasses that allow you to improve your abilities, and use things that will make you less susceptible to certain types of damage. There are so many ways to improve my abilities that I was a little overwhelmed at first, but I constantly felt like I was making progress.

5. History has gotten crazier in a good way

The plot in Doom games has always been a bit of a joke, but Doom [2016] took the joke seriously, resulting in a humorous narrative that was both funny and epic. After the forces of hell were unable to invade our system in 2016, it seemed that the galaxy could sleep peacefully. However, hell is back and the Doom Slayer is ready to use his shotgun once again.

Eternal gives players a broader view of the Doom universe than ever before. They will pass through a battered version of Earth and throw demonic hordes back to hell, which seem to intend to sacrifice our planet to a mysterious force. There are even hints that Cry of Doom may be exploring Paradise for the first time in this episode, which explains these angel-like figures we've seen in some Eternal trailers.

Doom Eternal is coming March 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia.
