In this issue of insiders, we will tell you about Microsoft's intentions to make a smartphone with three displays. We will also discuss Samsung's patent for the development of a frameless smartphone. We will also find out the data concerning the tablet from HUAWEI and the Meizu device.

Microsoft is thinking about creating a smartphone with three displays

This fall, Microsoft's Surface Neo and Surface Duo are expected to hit the market with two screens. However, it seems that the company's specialists are not going to stop there. There is evidence that they are going to promote a device with three displays.

Proof of this is the registration of a new patent application by an American manufacturer. It features schematics of a foldable smartphone that closely resembles the Surface Duo, but with a third screen. They want to place it on a hinge that separates the two halves of the device. The company believes that in this way they will be able to bridge the gap between two conventional screens.

This mini-screen is for displaying notifications, parts of the user interface, bookmarks, and other controls.

The two displays in Surface Neo and Surface Duo have small gaps around the hinges that connect them. The use of the third screen completely eliminates this modest drawback. The developers also believe that this approach will contribute to better wear resistance of the product. Such a display will deform and wear less, unlike, for example, the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

It is clear that Microsoft needs new technologies to make these visions a reality. This is necessary, first of all, to install an unusual screen over the hinge. In addition, it will not be superfluous to make sure that the device has the necessary processing power.

It is also necessary to work on the development of new software for the novelty. After all, an additional display must be able to adapt to changes.

There are reports that Microsoft is currently working on a custom version of Windows 10 called Windows 10X. It is needed to reorient the company's operating system to work specifically with foldable devices with two screens. Therefore, the foundations for solving complex problems have already been laid by a company from the USA.

The new triple-screen product is not expected to be announced until mid-next year.

Samsung Patent

Another patent application is related to an enterprise from South Korea. In 2014, it launched the first smartphone with a curved display, the Galaxy Note Edge. Then other similar devices of the brand appeared. Over time, other electronics manufacturers began to use this technology.

Now Samsung has decided to continue developing this concept, for which the new patent proposes to curl all four sides of the display.

This image was found by insiders in the company's new patent. He describes a device with a curved screen on all four sides. This idea is not new, something similar was previously encountered in other documents of the company. However, there is one significant difference: Koreans suggest folding the sides, but leaving the corners intact.

This is due to the observance of the necessary precautions. Often, smartphones are hit by the corners when dropped. In these places, engineers plan to place metal frames, which in such cases will take impact and protect the product.

Recently, Samsung has been actively developing the concept of folding devices. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether their new idea will find practical application.

The specifications of the device have been posted online.

The novelty will be equipped with a 10.4-inch display and a Kirin 810 processor. The gadget will receive the following configurations: 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB in the version with an LTE modem, as well as 4/64 GB and 4/128 GB for the version with Wi -Fi.

Also, insiders claim that the device uses a main and front camera with the same resolution of 8 megapixels and a 7250 mAh battery.

For the tablet to work correctly, the new firmware EMUI 10.1 Lite will be installed.

HUAWEI MatePad will be sold in white and gray cases. No pricing is known yet.

Benchmark declassified specifications of unannounced Meizu 17

Some characteristics of the future flagship of the company - Meizu 17 have already been published by several sources, but fresh information has recently appeared. They revealed previously unknown details of the model's equipment.

This is data from the AnTuTu benchmark database. There this device received the code number m2081. It is now clear that the 8 + 128 GB version of the smartphone will be equipped with an LPDDR4X standard RAM module, and not LPDDR5, as previously assumed.

Most likely, in this way the vendor hopes to reduce the cost of the model. Other configurations Meizu 17 (8 + 256 GB and 12 + 256 GB) will be equipped with more advanced RAM.

Prior to that, it was reported that the device will receive a 6.5-inch display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a Snapdragon 865 processor with a 5G X55 modem, and an integrated UFS 3.0 drive. The main module of its camera will be equipped with a 64-megapixel sensor from Samsung. Autonomy of work will be provided by a 4000 mAh battery with a fast charging function with a capacity of up to 30 W.

It was also established that the smartphone will be equipped with stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos technology, a sub-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu 17 is scheduled to release on April 15th, no pricing information yet available.
