The Finnish brand has released a budget competitor to affordable Xiaomi models - a new Nokia smartphone in terms of its parameters and price segment can be considered a direct rival to the Redmi 7A. Nokia 2.2, which the manufacturer offers in two colors, continues the classic tradition of the company with interchangeable body panels.
Nokia 2.2 Features
Nokia 2.2 was released on the international market a month ago, and now the company has officially presented it to USA users. Unlike many budget counterparts, the Nokia phone runs on a pure Android 9 Pie OS without additional firmware or interfaces. In addition, Nokia 2.2 has access to Google Android One, which provides it with all Android and security updates for a couple of years. A full-fledged Android OS without additional shells and software has a positive side: unnecessary applications will not place an additional load on the smartphone, which will speed up its work.
In USA, the Nokia 2.2 with 2 and 16 GB of RAM and internal memory is estimated at 7,000 rubles . In addition to it, there is also an assembly with a storage capacity of 32 GB. The smartphone has a removable 3,000 mAh battery. The body is made in black and gray (steel) colors.
Inside and out
Like all classic Nokia smartphones based on Symbian OS, the new Nokia 2.2 also supports the ability to change the design of the device by simply changing the Xpress-On panel. At the same time, the phone also includes a non-standard design move - its main speaker, unlike the overwhelming mass of modern smartphones, is located on the back of the case. Nokia 2.2 has a separate key for activating the voice assistant, which is Google Assistant.
The new Nokia 2.2 became a direct successor to the 2.1 model. At the heart of its 5.71-inch screen is an IPS matrix with support for HD + resolution. The screen is located on 79% of the front surface of the device, and a teardrop-shaped hole is provided for the selfie camera. The main camera with a 13 MP sensor is complemented by its own flash and the ability to record Full HD video at a frequency of 30 frames per second. In contrast, the front 5 MP module cannot boast of its own flash. Both cameras are supported by special algorithms that improve the quality of images taken in low light.
The Nokia 2.2 is based on a 4-core Helio A22 processor with an overclocked to 2 GHz. The chipset is built on a 12nm process technology and is complemented by PowerVR GE8320 graphics. With a small internal memory, the Nokia smartphone supports removable microSD cards up to 4,00 GB.
Among other characteristics, the new product supports GSM, 3G and LTE standards, has a couple of slots for SIM cards. The device is equipped with a 3.5 mm audio port, FM, has support for basic wireless modules Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11n with support for access point mode. There is no fast charging standard in the smartphone, it also lacks a USB-C port, instead of which there is a microUSB 2.0 interface. The smartphone is protected by face unlocking technology via a front camera, no fingerprint scanner is installed.
