Review of budget smartphone Huawei P40 Lite E

Huawei continues to expand its line of P40 smartphones. The flagship was recently introduced, but here we will talk about the most affordable model in the series. Despite its budget, the P40 Lite E is well equipped. However, the specialists of the Chinese manufacturer do not focus on technical characteristics. They strive to focus users' attention on the brand's mobile services, constantly proving that you can live without Google.

Design and specifications

A device from the lowest price category, by definition, cannot have premium materials in its construction. In the case of Huawei P40 Lite E, this is true, but the developers here have done everything to make the device look decent.

For example, the plastic of the product body was painted gray, making it as similar as possible to aluminum. The back panel was equipped with a special coating that gives glare, just like glass.

Another device is easy to use and lightweight. It also fits well in the hand.

In the upper left corner of the 6.39-inch IPS 720p LCD (19.5: 9, resolution 1560 ? 720 pixels, density 269 ppi) there is an 8-megapixel front camera sensor. There is a speaker above it for conversations. There are no complaints about his work.

The P40 Lite E has fairly thin bezels for its class. They are slightly larger only in the lower part, which for some reason remained underloaded with functionality. There is a lot of space here, but it is not used in any way.

The main camera unit of the product consists of three sensors with a resolution of 48 Mp + 8 Mp (wide-angle) + 2 Mp. The latter is needed to determine the depth of the shooting. In accordance with the existing trends, the block protrudes slightly from the body. There is an LED under it, and next to it is a fingerprint scanner.

Testers note that this sensor works well, even better than some subscreen fingerprint scanners.

The physical buttons for controlling the device are located on the right side, on the left there is a tray for SIM-cards and memory cards.

The basis of the hardware filling of the Huawei P40 Lite E is the eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 710F processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM. He is assisted in his work by the graphics chip Mali-G51 MP4.

The device runs Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 and Huawei mobile services. Autonomy is provided by a 4000 mAh battery with a 10 W charging power.

Weighing 176 grams, the smartphone has impressive geometric parameters: 159.8 ? 76.1 ? 8.1 mm. It is completed with a protective film, which is glued to the screen from the factory, a charger and an instruction manual. There are no headphones or a special bumper here.

Display and cameras

The display matrix is one of the simplest, IPS LCD technology is used here. It does not cause delight, but it works out its cost in full. The contrast of the images is average, the color rendition is good. Sometimes the screen will lack brightness, especially when working in the sun.

Huawei P40 Lite E is equipped with a special application that enhances its photo capabilities. It is convenient and intuitive. The program has many different modes. Among them there are Pro settings, slow motion or macro photography. Videos can be shot in Full HD at 30 frames per second.

The camera of the device does not like to work in poor lighting conditions. Then frames are obtained with a lot of noise. Colors may come out washed out and details may be limited. It is also worth remembering that there is no stabilization, so video images can be blurry. Also, do not shoot at 60 frames per second, the device does not always support such indicators.

Software & Performance

Many testers and early adopters of the P40 Lite E regret the lack of an Android 10 operating system that provides more options than the current Android 9 Pie. The EMUI 9.1 add-on also does a good job with its functions, but I would like more.

Some users are confused by the letter F in the name of the HiSilicon Kirin 710 F processor. Experts explain that this chip is the same as the Kirin 710. The difference between them lies in different production methods. So there is no reason to worry about its performance.

In this smartphone, it is on top (taking into account the cost of the product). For complex tasks, functioning in a multitasking environment, the power will not always be enough. But in most other cases, the system will cope with its responsibilities.

Autonomy

Batteries with a capacity of 4000 mAh, with an average efficient processor, are enough for 1.5-2 days of using the device. However, it should be remembered that this is doable with average loads on the battery. If the user wants to play one of the games, even with average requirements, the battery will be discharged after a few hours. Plus it will heat up.

It takes approximately two and a half hours to fully charge the battery. This is the downside of the lack of fast memory.

Summary

The Huawei P40 Lite E smartphone is conceived as a budget device that is designed to perform most of the functions demanded. Considering its average cost in the market - 13,000 rubles, it will appeal to most users who prefer this segment. Therefore, the manufacturer made some compromises in the design and equipment of the device.
