Old Guard
Sci-fi projects are a special source of pride for the online service Netflix. Only in recent years has he presented the audience with such successful series as "Mysterious Events" and "OA". As it became known to the publication Deadline, Netflix is preparing another pleasant surprise for fans of sai-fay. The streaming giant has acquired the rights to film the first novel in the John Scalzi book series, The Old Man's War.The first part of the saga went to press in 2005. The work in the genre of combat fiction received rave reviews in the press and earned Scalzi a nomination for the prestigious Hugo Award. In 2011, the rights to film adaptation of the bestseller were acquired by Paramount studio, which planned to invite two-time Oscar nominee Wolfgang Petersen to the director's chair of the film. Three years later, the rights to the book passed into the hands of the bosses of the Syfy channel, who decided to film it in the format of a television series. The new owners of the project gathered to return to the idea of creating a feature-length film in the spirit of Starship Troopers. Its action will unfold in the near future, when earthlings begin to successfully colonize other planets. The main character of the Netflix tape will be 75-year-old John Perry, who, after the death of his wife, decides to join the ranks of the space marines. Thanks to a special government program to find new recruits, his consciousness will be transferred to a young genetically modified body. Perry will quickly establish himself as an excellent fighter and plunge into an endless series of bloody battles with unfriendly alien races.  The film adaptation of Old Man's Wars will be produced by Robin Meisinger (Captives), Ryan Cunningham (Louis) and John Scalzi himself. The Topic of Article: Old Guard. |
