The film company Paramount Pictures decided to make a pleasant surprise for fans of action-packed thrillers about elusive maniacs. According to Variety , the Hollywood studio is starting work on the adaptation of Brian Bendis and Mark Andreiko's graphic novel Torso , which will tell viewers about one of the most brutal serial killers in American history.The first issue of the comic published by Image Comics went on sale in 1998. The plot of " Torso " was based on real events that took place in Cleveland in the 30s of the last century. In 1934, the former special agent of the Treasury Department Eliot Ness was appointed head of the city's fire and police departments, who three years earlier had helped to put the famous Chicago gangster Al Capone behind bars. The leader of the Untouchables had no idea that an even more dangerous rival awaited him in Cleveland ... In September 1935, an elusive serial killer began terrorizing the city's residents. Since the maniac preferred to decapitate and dismember the bodies of his victims, the press quickly gave him the nickname Cleveland Butcher . Modern historians believe that from 1935 to 1938, the killer killed 12 people. However, only two of his victims were identified. Dr. Francis E. Sweeney was considered the prime suspect, but Ness 's team was never able to prove his involvement in the brutal murders.  At one time, Bendis worked as an artist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper, whose archive contained many articles about the Cleveland Plain Dealer . After studying the case file, Brian got the idea to create a black and white graphic novel about the confrontation between police detectives and a mad killer. " Torso " has rapidly gained cult status among comic book fans and earned its authors the prestigious Eisner Award .  The first attempts to film a graphic novel were made by the studio Miramax ten years ago. The director's chair of the film was going to be taken by David Fincher, who by that time had already managed to shoot such famous thrillers about maniacs as "Seven" and "Zodiac". Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and many other Hollywood stars expressed their desire to take part in the work on the tape, but in 2009 the film company unexpectedly refused to renew the rights to the film adaptation. It was rumored that the studio bosses only wanted to return " Torso " to Fincher if he had directed another movie for them first. David refused, and the project almost died in a bose.  Fortunately for moviegoers, the rights to the film adaptation of Torso were bought by Paramount Pictures , which has already decided on the names of the director and screenwriter of the film, tentatively titled Ness >". The noir thriller will be directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Greengrass , whose track record includes three films about Jason Bourne and the biographical drama Captain Phillips ".
