The closer the New Year's holidays, the more often Christmas trees, hung with colorful balls, and familiar heroes in smart costumes, flash on TV screens. Disney studio also offers us to touch the fairy tale, however, so far only in the format of a dubbed trailer - to the family film The Nutcracker and the Four Kingdoms. It is filmed by the famous Swedish director, winner of three Oscar nominations Lasse Hallstrom (Winemaking Rules) based on the ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the fairy tale by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann. Screenwriter Ashley Powell adapted both sources for the big screen.The plot of the picture tells the well-known story in a new way and focuses on a girl named Clara, who receives an unusual gift from her godfather for Christmas. Ahead she has three exciting trips across three countries - the Land of Snows, the Land of Flowers and the Land of Sweets. But besides this, she will have to visit one more kingdom, where an army of small rodents and their commander, the nasty Mouse King, will be waiting for her. Mackenzie Foy (Interstellar) will appear on the screens as Clara, Morgan Freeman will play her godfather, and Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren are also cast in the film.
