McKenzie Foy will star in the new Nutcracker
Young actress McKenzie Foy, familiar to viewers from the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and Interstellar, will play a major role in the new movie adaptation of Hoffman's fairy tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. It is reported by the Variety edition with reference to its sources. Foy will accompany the American ballet Misty Copeland, who will perform solo dance numbers. The working title of the painting is "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms" ("The Nutcracker and the Four Worlds"). To what extent the script would correspond to the literary source was not known at the time of this writing. Recall that the fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" was first published in 1816. It takes place on Christmas Eve, when the doll presented to the main character comes to life to lead the battle of the dolls with the army of the sinister seven-headed Mouse King. The fairy tale gained particular popularity after the premiere of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet, the first production of which took place in 1892. The work of Hoffmann has been repeatedly movieed earlier in the form of full-length feature movies and in the form of animation projects. The last attempt so far was made in 2009.
