Hollywood is preparing a biopic of The Mambo King
Actor, director and producer Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) will delight fans of Latin American culture. The veteran of American cinema and TV will tell about the life of the famous musician Tito Puente.Olmos will team up with the artist's heirs on an ambitious project that will include a documentary series, a VR headset software and a music album featuring contemporary covers of Puente's greatest hits. The cherry on the cake will be a full-length feature film about the singer's life. Tito was born on April 20, 1923 and spent his childhood in El Barrio, an eastern neighborhood of Harlem. Puente grew up as a hyperactive child, so his parents sent their offspring to a music school. At first, Tito studied piano, but soon became interested in the work of Gin Krupa and switched to drums. Subsequently, the nicknames were attached to the musician King of Timbals and King of Mambo.  In 1942, Tito enlisted in the American army. After three years of World War II, he received government education benefits and entered the prestigious Juilliard School of Music and Arts. World fame came to Puente in 1962, when he released the legendary composition `` Oye Como Va ''. Tito Puente passed away on May 31, 2000 during an emergency operation to replace a heart valve. Three years later, he was posthumously awarded the Grammy for Outstanding Contribution to the Music Industry.
