Universal is planning to movie a full-length version based on the sci-fi franchise Battlestar Galactica. According to Variety, the story will be completely reimagined.

Jack Paglen (Supremacy) is in charge of writing the script. The feature movie will be produced by original creator Glen A. Larson.

There are three series in the franchise, including Battlestar Galactica 1980. The first series, starring Lorne Green and Richard Hatch, aired from 1978 to 1979. In the center of the plot – a long-term war waged by humans against the robotic race known as the Cylon. In parallel with military operations, people are looking for the Earth, the coordinates of which are unknown.

In 2003, the Sci Fi Channel released a reimagined mini-version of the series. The show, starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, ran for four seasons.

In 2009, rumors circulated about the possible involvement of Brian Singer as director of the feature movie Battlestar Galactica.
