Spectrum Originals will prove that history always repeats itself. The American studio will take viewers a hundred years ago, when a global epidemic was raging in the world, and Hollywood was shuddering from one loud scandal after another.Spectrum will team up with Paramount Television on a series based on William J. Mann's bestseller, Tinsel City: Murder, Morphine, and Madness at the Dawn of Hollywood. The book was published in 2014, and a year later, its author was awarded the prestigious Edgar Allan Poe Literary Prize for the best detective work based on real events. The book is set in the early 20s of the last century, when Hollywood had just returned to work after the Spanish flu pandemic. The plot revolves around the investigation of the mysterious murder of actor and director William Desmond Taylor. Detectives do not yet suspect that the Dream Factory will turn out to be not at all such an idyllic and serene world as it is seen from the outside ...  The series will be written by the author of the original novel and veteran of American television Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, The Son).
