After the 2015 pilot of the television adaptation of Philip K. Dick's acclaimed novel The Man in the High Castle achieved the highest rating in Amazon history, service executives have become much more willing to take on series based on science fiction and fantasy genres. According to Variety, the streaming giant's intriguing television project will be replenished with the adaptation of William Gibson's bestselling Peripherals.The novel of one of the most talented science fiction writers of our time hit bookstores in 2014. The action of this action-packed thriller takes place in the near future. In the center of the story is the girl Flynn Fisher, who lives in a small American town with her mother and brother, who, after being demobilized from the Marine Corps, enrolled in the testers of a new computer game. Once the main character of the story has to replace her brother at his work. During the next beta testing session, Flynn witnesses the murder and begins to suspect that the game is not taking place in a virtual environment ... The novel will be adapted by Academy Award-nominated Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan).  If Smith's script makes a good impression on the Amazon bosses, they will launch the full first season of Peripherals, bypassing the usual pilot pre-filming scheme. In this case, Vincenzo Natali (“Cube”, “American Gods”) will act as the main director of the series. It is curious that at one time the Canadian was considered the main contender for the director's chair of the film adaptation of another famous work by William Gibson - "Neuromancer". Vincenzo was never able to get off the ground with the Hollywood long-term construction, but thanks to the Golden Age of television, he may still have a chance to honor the work of the laureate of the prestigious Nebula and Hugo literary awards.
