Spielberg and Hanks return to war

Image Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are preparing another gift for fans of the military theme. The legendary Hollywood duo have begun developing a series about American bombers during World War II.

Spielberg and Hanks' first military project was Saving Private Ryan. Then Stephen and Tom teamed up twice to produce series about the exploits of the paratroopers in Europe and the marines in the Pacific. Both projects won an Emmy in the Best Miniseries category.

In 2013, Hanks and Spielberg were asked to direct a serial drama based on the book by Donald L. Miller "Air Masters: American Navigator-Bombardiers Who Waged an Air War against Nazi Germany." Before long, cable channels faced serious competition from streaming platforms and lost a huge chunk of DVD revenues. As a result, the project with a price tag of $ 250 million hit the shelf.

Ironically, it was thanks to the development of streaming networks that the series was revived. Today it became known that the rights to the "Lords of the Air" were bought by Apple Corporation, which only recently entered the market of TV content producers, but has already managed to announce several high-profile projects. Thanks to the Apple company, Spielberg and Hanks will be able to create another masterpiece on the theme of World War II. The nine-part show will be produced by Apple's own television division.
