Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks will star in the political drama "The Post", which is set to be movieed by the famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. This is reported by The Wrap with reference to its sources.
The plot of the picture will be based on real events that occurred in 1971, when the Pentagon documents came to the disposal of the Washington Post journalists. The newspaper editor Ben Bradley and its publisher Kay Graham were forced to confront the US administration, defending their right to publish the papers of the defense department.
This will be the fifth collaboration between Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The last of them at the time of this writing - "Spy Bridge" was presented to the audience in 2015. The movie earned numerous nominations for the most prestigious movie awards, and Hanks was honored with the 2016 KinoNews Award for Best Actor of the Year.
As for Streep, she participated in the voice acting of one of the characters in Spielberg's science fiction movie "Artificial Intelligence", but did not act for the director.
