Is Spider-Man going to be auctioned off?

Image The epic with the film rights for Spider-Man will receive an unexpected development: rumors reached Hollywood insiders that the Walt Disney empire is preparing a deal to buy out the superhero.

Disney and Sony made Marvel fans jittery this summer by canceling a joint custody deal for Peter Parker. After some time, the producers returned to the negotiating table and signed a new contract. The current deal is only for two Marvel blockbusters - the yet unnamed Phase IV film and the sequel Far From Home.

Sony wants to use Parker in its own film franchise, but Marvel and Disney are not interested in merging with the world of Venom. In this regard, rumors circulated on the Web that Kevin Feige's company would have no choice but to use Spider-Man's next solo album to remove the young superhero from the Avengers.

Apparently, the management of Disney remembered about another option with which you can avoid meeting with Venom. It is enough just to buy out the rights to Peter Parker from Sony. Rumor has it that Disney is ready to shell out about five billion dollars. If Sony agrees to the deal, Tom Holland's character will be solely owned by Marvel and become the main face of its MCU for the next few years.

Officials from Sony, Marvel and Disney have so far declined to comment.
