By the precepts of Agatha Christie

Image While Hollywood producers are adapting Agatha Christie's works on a blockbuster-worthy scale, and the BBC is trying to take a fresh look at the stories of the famous writer, Amazon decided to get its own detective investigating crimes in a quiet village. Left Bank Pictures is said to be filming Louise Penny's book about Inspector Gamache for the streaming service.

The first novel of the cycle was published back in 2005, and now the series includes more than a dozen works. Louise Penny, on the other hand, has won the Agatha Christie Literary Award five times for books written in the classic detective genre.

The action of the works takes place in Three Pines - a fictional French Canadian village, in which, despite all its outward serenity, murders constantly occur, and inspector Gamache is investigating them. It is noteworthy that the first book of the cycle has already been filmed: in 2013, the TV film "The Secret of the Three Pines" with Nathaniel Parker in the title role was released.

The new series will be written by Emilia Di Girolamo (Medici: Lords of Florence) and directed by Samuel Donovan (People, Utopia), who will direct four episodes. The show owes its name to the village where all the events take place - "Three Pines". Filming will take place in Canada as soon as the quarantine restrictions are lifted.
