Once he tried to outwit Sherlock himself, but now the actor Andrew Scott will fool TV fans: he will play the main role in the TV series "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Showtime has commissioned the first season of an eight-episode thriller based on Patricia Highsmith's novel Tom Ripley.Oscar-winning Stephen Zellian (Schindler's List) wrote the script for the first season. He will also lead the shooting of all episodes and take over the functions of the executive producer. The main character of the series is the swindler Tom Ripley, who trades in the early 60s in New York. Fortune smiles upon him when the rich man hires Tom as his companion on a trip to Italy. Their goal is to persuade the rich man's prodigal son to return home. Tom, of course, accepts a job offer and takes the first step towards a life of deception, fraud and murder. “We are confident that this show will be something special with Andrew Scott, whose charisma knows no bounds,”said Gary Levine, President of Showtime, in a statement.  The novels of Patricia Highsmith have repeatedly inspired producers to create screen adaptations, but the series about Tom Ripley will be filmed for the first time.
