The Talented Mr. Cross
Last May, we wrote that Endemol Shine Studio has started developing a series based on Patricia Highsmith's cycle of novels about Mr. Ripley . As reported by Variety , today the project finally got its main scriptwriter.The television adaptation of the Highsmith pentalogy will be led by Luther and Crossbones creator Neil Cross . According to insiders, Endemol Shine Studio expects to release a multi-part drama on TV screens simultaneously in the US and Europe. The series will be produced by Guymon Kasady and Ben Forkner. Tom Ripley made his debut in 1955 in The Talented Mr. Ripley , when he was introduced to readers as a charming con man who decided to pass himself off as the heir to a shipbuilding magnate. A year later, the novel formed the basis for the plot of one of the episodes of the television anthology "First Studio" ( Studio One ). Over the next years, Mr. Ripley became the hero of feature films five times. Such famous actors as Alain Delon, Dennis Hopper, John Malkovich, Barry Pepper and Matt Damon tried on the image of a crook in these adaptations.
