Although Sergio Leone has never been nominated for the " Oscar " award, the Italian director inscribed his name in golden letters in the history of world cinema as one of the founders of spaghetti westerns and the creator the famous " Dollar Trilogy ", which includes such cult films as "For a Fistful of Dollars", "A Few Dollars More" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.Leone died in 1989 from a heart attack, not having time to implement a lot of interesting projects, including a large-scale war drama about besieged Leningrad. It seems that after 27 years one of the ideas of the legendary filmmaker can still be brought to life thanks to his daughter Raffaella and son Andrea. As reported by Variety , the Italian company Leone Film Group is starting to create an English-language mini-series " Colt " ( Colt ) , the idea of which came to Sergio two years before his death. With the support of screenwriters Sergio Donati and Fulvio Morsella, Leone invented the plot of a television drama about the Colt revolver that would pass from one inhabitant of the American Old West to another, but the project could not leave into production during his lifetime.  “ Colt will become not only the central character, but also the main engine of the plot, - the director's daughter admitted. -This will be a story about young guys who become criminals. For six episodes, we learn how they made their way from ordinary teenagers to the famous bandits of the Wild West. Consider our project a kind of prequel to the film “Jesse James. A hero out of time ””. By the way, film critics recognized the aforementioned 1939 Western as a fairly free retelling of the life story of the famous American criminal, since he portrayed Jesse James as a punisher who broke the law to avenge the murder of his mother.  Stefano Sollima ("Gomorra" / Gomorra ) has been appointed as showrunner and director of the first two episodes of Colt , and Luca Infaselli and Massimo Gaudioso have been recruited to write the television western. According to insiders, the leadership of Leone Film Group has already begun to submit their project to the bosses of North American channels and online services.
