Ennio Morricone died
Tragic news came from Italy. In Rome, at the age of 92, the legendary composer and conductor Ennio Morricone, who gave movie fans the music for The Good, the Bad, the Evil, The Thing, The Untouchables, The Professional, Once Upon a Time in America, The Hateful Eight, died , "Octopus" and many other movie and TV hits.One of the greatest composers of the 20th century was born on November 10, 1928 in Rome. Father Ennio played the trumpet and performed with professional orchestras, so music was often played in the Morricone house. It is not surprising that the child followed in the footsteps of his parent and enrolled in the wind instrument courses of the National Academy of St. Cecilia. At that time, the genius was 12 years old. He completed a four-year course in six months.  In the 50s, Ennio began writing his own music. Success came immediately: the Italian's compositions were played on radio, concerts and theater stages. Morricone also recorded orchestral parts and made arrangements for films, but preferred to act incognito. For the first time his name appeared in the credits to "The Fascist Leader". Film critics liked Ennio's melodies, and he finally stopped being shy. World fame came to the composer thanks to the collaboration with Sergio Leone. Morricone's music has become the hallmark of spaghetti westerns and one of the main decorations of the dollar trilogy (For a Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly). It's hard to believe, but the Italian maestro won the first Oscar only in 2007, and even then we are talking about an award for outstanding contribution to cinema. Ennio first competed for an award in 1979 for the soundtrack to "Days of Harvest", but lost to compatriot Giorgio Moroder. Music critics and film researchers agree that Morricone should have won an Oscar for Once Upon a Time in America, but American distributors screwed up the paperwork and left the Italian out of the 1985 Oscar race. This was followed by four more nominations for "Mission", "Untouchables", "Bugsy" and "Malena".  In 2007, Ennio lifted the Oscar curse and received an honorary Academy Award, and nine years later won the long-deserved statuette in a competitive struggle.
