”Live and Die in Los Angeles” migrates to TV

Image The 1985 film " Live and Die in Los Angeles ", directed by Oscar-winning director William Friedkin ("The French Messenger"), will receive a second screen life, but this time as a series. Deadline has announced that WGN America has acquired the rights to remake the cult thriller.

The director's chair of the TV show will be taken by Fridkin himself. The script is written by Robert Moresco, another winner of the Oscar for the drama Crash. Both Fridkin and Moresco will act as executive producers of the new show. According to the source, WGN America plans to skip the pilot and book the full first season right away.

Like the original film, the new version will be based on the novel by Gerald Petivich. At the center of events is an intelligence agent who is ready to go to any lengths to catch the counterfeiter responsible for the death of his partner. According to the creators, the series will allow viewers to plunge into the world of an intelligence service hidden from prying eyes and watch the game of cat and mouse, which will unfold in the unsightly back streets of the City of Angels.

Live and Die in Los Angeles became the starting point in the careers of such actors as Willem Dafoe, William Petersen, John Pancoe and John Turturro. Interestingly, quite recently Fridkin spoke out quite categorically about the migration of eminent directors to television, saying that there they have much more freedom for self-expression than on large screens.
