William Friedkin: ”Blockbusters Harm Cinema”
In an interview with the Telegraph reporters, the Oscar-winning director William Friedkin (The French Messenger, The Exorcist) lashed out at contemporary blockbusters.“Previously, films were about ordinary people, - noted Fridkin . -Now Batman , Superman , Iron Man , The Avengers and other heroes run the show in Hollywood in which I have no interest. Studios began targeting the general public back in the 70s. In 77, I made my best movie, The Wizard, but it got completely lost in the Star Wars backdrop. Ultimately, life stories became useless. I never wanted to work just for financial gain. To " The Exorcist " filmed three sequels and a prequel, but I won't watch any of them.  Many prominent filmmakers have been forced to turn their eyes to TV. On-air and cable channels have the ability to tell much more complex and profound stories than in a big movie.
