The Real Exorcist
At the end of last month, the documentary film "The Devil and Father Amorth" by William Friedkin was released in American cinemas. The long-awaited return of the director of "The Exorcist" to the topic of exorcism has interested both ordinary film lovers and heads of Hollywood studios. As it became known to the publication Deadline, Sony will turn the main character of the documentary Fridkin into a character in a feature film.The production of the so far unnamed tape about the Catholic priest Gabriel Amort will be handled by the major's subsidiary, Screen Gems. The creators of the picture have already acquired exclusive rights to the life story of the Italian exorcist and the adaptation of two of his autobiographies at once. Hollywood insiders claim that the producers have enough material to film a whole series of horror films about the fighter against demons. Amorth was ordained in 1954. According to the priest himself, over the next sixty years, he performed 160 thousand rituals of casting out demons. Gabriel also became famous for his scandalous statements on church-related topics, which made him a darling of the yellow press and bearer of the unofficial title of the Vatican's chief exorcist. Amorth accused Roman priests of organizing orgies, harshly criticized the Harry Potter books, called yoga worshipers Satanists, and argued that Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin were possessed by the devil.
