Image Hollywood plans to return the heroes of the popular horror series " Puppet Master " to the screens. According to Deadline , Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media will take part in the reboot of the franchise.

The first film in the series was released in 1989 straight to video. Despite the fact that the horror was not very successful with critics, he managed to gain cult status with the audience. Over the years, the horror film has received nine sequels and a crossover with another killer doll franchise - Demon's Toys.

The protagonists of the original " Puppet Master " were four psychics who learned that the puppeteer Andre Toulon had learned the ancient Egyptian secret of bringing inanimate objects to life. The clairvoyants did not yet realize that the puppetmaster decided to use a spell to give life to his scary dolls.

The central character of the new chapter of the story will be a young guy who discovers among the things of his deceased brother a rare doll with a hook and a knife instead of hands. The protagonist travels to an Oregon toy exhibition to mark the 30th anniversary of the original film's tragic events. The horror script will be written by S. Craig Zahler , who has received many compliments for his debut film "Bone Tomahawk". Insiders have yet to say if he is considering taking on the director's chair for the new Puppet Master . The bosses of Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media hope that the upcoming reboot will help them launch an entire cinematic universe about unfriendly dolls.
