Critters and killer clowns take over the old
The brilliant start to the distribution of the film "Halloween" made many people in film and television think about the revival of other horror franchises. Yesterday it became known that the star of the National Basketball Association LeBron James is preparing a remake of "Friday the 13th", and today brought good news for fans of "Critters" and "Killer Clowns from Space.Bloody Disgusting managed to find out that the SyFy channel has entered into negotiations to acquire the rights to these projects. Earlier, the management of the cable network managed to take under the wing of the Leprechaun franchise. Next year, SyFy will premiere Leprechaun Returns, set 25 years after the opening film of the series about the adventures of a sinister character in Irish folklore. Now the bosses of the television network are eager to reanimate "Critters" and "Killer Clowns from Space". It is not yet clear whether we are talking about their complete reboot or about trying to create prequels, sequels or remakes of existing films. Critters debuted on the big screens in 1986. The first part of the film series was filmed for only $ 2 million and earned almost seven times more in North America alone. Two years later, a sequel was released, which, to the disappointment of its creators, failed to recoup its budget. As a result, the third and fourth parts went straight to the video.  As for killer clowns, they landed in theaters in 1988. The black comedy was warmly received by critics, and over the years it has won a cult status among horror fans. Over the past 30 years, none of the many attempts to expand the franchise have been successful. Fans of the original can only hope that the leadership of Syfy will be luckier than their predecessors and will finally give the audience a new meeting with unfriendly aliens who pretend to be circus clowns.
