IT Producers Bring Chucky Doll to Life

Image This November, it will be 30 years since the on-screen debut of the famous killer doll Chucky. As reported by Collider, Hollywood has prepared another gift for the upcoming anniversary of the children's games horror franchise. At first it became known that Chucky would go to conquer small screens, then the creator of the film series Don Mancini received an honorary Saturn award, and now from the Dream Factory came the news of the start of work on a remake of the original horror film.

The first part of Children's Games was released on November 9, 1988. The film earned a warm welcome in the press and earned more than $ 44 million on a budget of $ 9 million. The box office success of the film helped Mancini create a massive media franchise, which, in addition to six sequels, includes short films, comics and video games.

As with many other horror movies, the rights situation for Kids Games looks rather confusing. Creation of sequels and TV projects in the Chucky universe can only be dealt with by Universal. At the same time, the rights to the first part of the film series remained with MGM, which at one time acted as its distributor.

It looks like the MGM bosses are finally ready to exercise their rights to the project. According to Hollywood insiders, the action of the remake will unfold in our days, and a group of teenagers in the spirit of the main characters of the super popular TV series Mysterious Events will give the fight to the sinister Chucky. The script for the film was written by young writer Tyler Burton Smith, who previously worked in the field of short films and video games. The director's chair of the horror film will go to the Norwegian Lars Klevberg (Polaroid).

The new version of Children's Games will be produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Graham-Smith, who are already familiar with the horror genre from last year's adaptation of Stephen King's novel It.
