Stanley Kubrick's Legacy

Image According to the Collider information portal, Stanley Kubrick 's script The Downslope , which has not yet been realized, will form the basis of a whole trilogy of films.

The first film will be directed by Mark Forster ("War of the Worlds Z", "Quantum of Solace"). Along with Lauren Selig (Survivor) and Barry Levine (Oblivion), he will also take over the production functions of the entire trilogy.

Kubrick wrote the screenplay in 1956, between his work on Fear and Lust and Paths of Glory. The new films will take place during the Civil War, and they will tell about the battles in the Shenandoah Valley between the troops of General George Armstrong Custer and John Singleton Mosby , known as Gray ghost . The latter's allies were nicknamed the Mosby Rangers. They managed to raid the enemy's rear and leave with impunity, which infuriated Caster and made these two war heroes ardent opponents.

Kubrick did a lot of research before finalizing the script. He collaborated with historian Shelby Foote, drawing maps for years and taking notes on how the film would be filmed. But, unfortunately, the legendary filmmaker did not manage to realize his plan himself.
