Kevin Smith will travel to the eighth dimension
Filmmaker Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma) is ready to open up the eighth dimension on small screens. As it became known to the site Entertainment Weekly , the director begins work on a television remake of the fantastic film " The Adventures of Bakaroo Banzai in the Eighth Dimension ".The picture was released in 1984 and told about Bakar Banzai - a genius scientist, an avid race car driver and a rock star who saved the world from evil aliens. The main character in the original was played by Peter Weller. In the podcast Hollywood Babble-On Kevin Smith admitted that the success of a recent episode of "The Flash" ( The Flash ), titled “ Runaway Dinosaur ”, which he directed, opened up new opportunities for him in Hollywood. One of these interesting proposals was the television version of The Adventures of Bakaroo Banzai for the MGM studio.  Smith is a longtime fan of the film, calling it one of those films that have had a significant impact on his work. As for the remake itself, the director told reporters the following:"In fact, the first season can be considered an adaptation of the original tape, and the second - a sequel, which the audience never saw". Due to the failure of the first part at the box office, its planned sequel The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Against the World Crime League was never filmed.  Also, Smith added that he plans to work closely with original screenwriter Earl Mack Roch to try out the cast of the 1984 film.
