Tesla's biopic went to work

Image Nikola Tesla, whose inventions and ideas have inspired more than one generation of scientists, as well as have become the subjects of many works of art, comics and films, will receive his own biopic. The portal Deadline reports about it.

The new project is being led by director Michael Almereida ("Hamlet"), who plans to subsequently lead the filming of the drama, and producer Uri Singer . The script for Tesla , and this is the name the film received, was written by Almereida himself.

Nikola Tesla was born in the Austrian Empire in 1856, and immigrated to the USA in the 1880s. Here he began working for Thomas A. Edison. Their companionship gradually developed into an irreconcilable rivalry, and this rivalry eventually led to the famous "War of currents" . Thanks to the contribution of Tesla to the creation of devices operating on alternating current, he is rightfully called the"man who invented the 20th century".

Biopic will focus on the inventor's life in America, his work for Edison , and his acquaintance with influential people of the time such as George Westinghouse and J.P. Morgan. The creators of the picture intend to tell a true story about a man who amazed others with his non-standard ideas and rarely made compromises.

According to the source, Almereida had long dreamed of making a film about Tesla , and the biopic script was one of the first texts written by the filmmaker at the dawn of his career. For him and Singer this project will be the third joint work - this year the film "The Experimenter" was released, and recently the shooting of the film Marjorie Prime was completed.
