David Lynch waited for the coveted Oscar

The leadership of the Academy announced the names of four cinematographers who will receive awards for their special contribution to the development of the most important of the arts. Lynch will be accompanied by his fellow director Lina Wertmuller and actors Wes Studi and Gina Davis at the special Oscars.

Werthmuller inscribed her name in the chronicle of cinematography back in 1977, when she became the first woman to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Director. Forty-two years later, the Americans decided to celebrate the brilliant creative path of the Italian with a special prize of the Film Academy. Another honorary "Oscar" will go to the Cherokee Indian Wes Studi. In the track record of this charismatic actor you can find such famous films as "Dancing with Wolves", "The Last of the Mohicans", "Fight" and "Avatar"

As for Gina Davis, she will receive the Gene Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The winner of the "Oscar - 1989" for her supporting role in the film "Reluctant Tourist" has long and successfully fought for gender equality in Hollywood. In 2015, Davis founded the Bentonville Film Festival to bring extra attention to the directors of lovely ladies. Young film screenings are developing by leaps and bounds: last year it already hosted 90 films and 85 thousand guests.

The Special Academy Awards will be presented on October 27 during the 11th Annual Governors Awards.
